North East leisure company The Apartment Group is set to open its latest venue within weeks – luxury Scandinavian-style holiday cabins in Northumberland.
The firm, which also owns a number of bars, restaurants and hotels in Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham and Northumberland, announced plans last year to create luxury cabins close to Newton Hall.
Now the final touches are being made to the accommodation called Cabin Walk, and bookings care being taken ahead of a June 1 opening.

The new site is set within Newton Estate and next to Newton Hall and the nearby The Joiners Arms gastropub. It represents a multimillion-pound investment by the company, which also owns Le Petit Chateau and the William de Percy Inn & Crêperie. Each Cabin Walk lodge comes with an outdoor seating area, decking stretching around a private garden, with some featuring private hot hubs, outdoor showers or fire pits.
Debrah Dhugga, chief operations officer at the firm, has worked with designers and architects on Cabin Walk, amid moves to create five-star accommodation on the Northumberland coast to rival coastal resorts in Devon and Cornwall.
She said: “With the support of an amazing team of individuals, garden designers, various interior designers and talented trades people, the extended estate has been turned into an incredible luxury experience. All the while maintaining sustainability and keeping locality at its core. The cabins really are unique spaces exuding a sense of calm where guests can relax and be inspired, whilst feeling connected to the great outdoors. The detached lodges are designed to embody classic cabin chic with a splash of Scandi style.
“The team pooled together the vision and the scope of ideas for the estate, it is wonderful to see it come to life. Offering a special staycation get away for everyone, we offer dog-friendly cabins, so your four-legged friends are also welcome.”
The development led to the removal of some caravans from the site last year, with a number of owners complaining that they were given short notice to leave the area. Apartment Group said the move had been “necessary to safeguard the future of the business and its employees”.
