Leinster and Connacht fans all have the same complaint about kit clash during Champions Cup encounter

Leinster and Connacht supporters were united in their frustration at another kit clash between the two in their Champions Cup second leg.

While there was a clear gulf in class between both sides, there wasn't much clarity between their jerseys which drew a barrage of annoyed tweets.

RTE sports journalist Evanne Ní Chuilinn was among them as she tweeted: "Won’t someone think of the colour-blind (and all) viewers."

While Damien replied: "It’s a joke !! You would imagine they would have learnt from last week."

Brenden tweeted: "How is this not a jersey clash in leinster-connacht?????? Blue vs bluish.....sigh."

Similarly, Michael asked: "They could do with a jersey change at half time here."

And Barry said: "I know there are bigger things in the world to be worried about.

"But having a similar jersey clash two weeks in a row for the Leinster v Connacht match has to be one of the more stupid things we will see today.

"Anything to be said for a white alternate strip for either team?"

Lastly, Colman saw the funny side of it, writing: "If you’re confused about the jersey colours this evening, I’ll give you a tip. Leinster are the ones with the ball."

Ryle Nugent in commentary even mentioned at one point that telling one from the other was a bit of an issue even when you were there in person.

As for the action itself, Connacht did manage to make a promising start that saw them open the scoring.

But the home side seized control after that opening eight minutes or so and proceeded to lay down a marker to the rest of the tournament in what was a brilliant first-half display.

They opened their account out of nowhere through a scintillating 70-yard move down the right that resulted in Jamison Gibson-Park streaking clear as he raced for the corner.

Over the course of the rest of the match Tadhg Furlong also crossed over while Robbie Henshaw bagged himself a brace.

But the man of the hour was James Lowe who wound up running in FOUR tries.

Connacht didn't help themselves as their poor discipline saw two yellow cards dished out in quick succession first to Bundee Aki and later to Jack Aungier.

The prop's sin binning proved particularly costly as when a scrum was awarded, they were then forced to play with just 13 for the duration as that bizarre rule which we now recognise from the Ireland-Italy game once again resurfaced.

So the match wasn't really worth seeing compared to the far more compelling first leg but it still beggars belief there wasn't any other jersey combination the two teams could have agreed upon to make it a slightly more palatable sight.
