Leigh Griffiths 'set' to join Falkirk as former Celtic and Scotland striker prepared for life in League One

Former Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths is set to join League One Falkirk until the end of the season.

The free agent is without a club after cutting ties with Ange Postecoglou and Parkhead before rejecting the option of continuing at loan club Dundee until the end of the season.

The Scotland cap will instead rock up in the third tier to join Martin Rennie's new-look team as they battle for promotion back to the Championship.

Currently in sixth place some 22 points off leaders Cove Rangers, their only shot at that would be through the play-offs.

But they are set to have all-time scorer of the Scottish Premiership era Griffiths at their disposal with Sky Sports reporting he is prepared to join until the end of the season.

Last month Griffiths was cut loose by Celtic after 261 games and 123 goals over an eight year spell at the club.

It's understood ambitious Queen's Park, also in League One, were keen but Falkirk seem to have won the battle for his signature.
