Ange Postecoglou confirms that Leigh Griffiths will not play for Celtic again as he thanks the striker for leaving his mark on the club.

As exclusively revealed by Record Sport , the Parkhead club have activated an option to release the controversial Scotland international.

Griffiths had been on loan at Dundee, who will keep him at Dens Park until the end of the month as they weigh up their next move.

What's certain is that the 31-year-old has kicked his last ball for Celtic after 123 goals in 261 games for the club.

Griffiths seven league titles with the Hoops as well as a further seven domestic trophies, and while the current Parkhead boss confirmed his release he paid tribute to the impact made by the striker.

Postecoglou told Sky Sports: "I think it has come to an end, yeah.

"Leigh is now looking for the next chapter of his career.

"An outstanding football career at Celtic but all of us kind of pass through clubs. You want to leave a mark when you do and Leigh has certainly done that.

"I think he can look back on his Celtic career with great pride and he goes on to the next chapter of his football career."
