Leicester City owner attending Nottingham Forest clash with Brendan Rodgers under pressure

Leicester's owner is due to attend his first game in over six weeks as the spotlight intensifies on boss Brendan Rodgers ahead of Monday’s derby.

Rodgers' side are bottom of the Premier League after six straight defeats - the Foxes' worst start to a top-flight season since 1983/84.
Their defence has conceded more goals than any back-line ever in the Premier League after seven games, including 11 in the last two games.

Northern Irish coach Rodgers is now the bookmakers' favourite to be the next top-flight manager to leave his role amid mounting unrest among fans ahead of Monday’s local derby with promoted Nottingham Forest.

Leicester ’s hierarchy remain supportive of their coach who masterminded the club’s first ever FA Cup win in 2021 but Rodgers knows results and performances must improve.

Leicester chairman is scheduled to attend Monday’s crunch clash at the King Power Stadium with Forest, who are 19th after four straight defeats themselves.

Ex-Leicester title winner Robert Huth admits the pressure is on both Rodgers and City’s stars to belatedly get their first League win.
Former defender Huth, who played for Leicester from 2015-2018, assessed: “The longer you stay at the bottom the pressure is going to increase on you.

“We’ve got – not an easy game at all – a massive one against Nottingham Forest and then a run of games in which we can hopefully pick up points.

“Monday night is massive for us, it’s under the lights, it’s live on TV. It’s a derby, the pressure is on and it’s up to the lads to deliver. Let’s not forget this is a long-term project – you can’t just think about the short-term all the time.

“Taking everything into consideration, transfers, certain players leaving, the atmosphere is still good around the place, the players are still performing to a level which isn’t concerning to me. They’ve not thrown in the towel, players are still tracking back.”

Rodgers could turn to veteran striker Jamie Vardy to lead the line against Forest before games against Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Leeds and Wolves.

The prolific striker, 35, has endured the worst start to a season in his Leicester career with his last goal coming on the final day of last term. Vardy was dropped for the 5-2 loss at Brighton and came off the bench again at Spurs in Leicester’s previous game which they lost 6-2.

Ex-Tottenham and PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino and Sean Dyche have since been linked with Rodgers’ job.
