Leicester City title-winner Danny Simpson has said that the number of transfers at Nottingham Forest over the summer may not necessarily help with any fight against relegation.
Forest travel to take on Leicester on Monday night in what could be a crucial game at the bottom of the table. Both teams will look to use the match to end runs of defeats in the Premier League, with the Reds losing their last four league games.
Steve Cooper was the most active manager in the league in the summer transfer window, bringing a total of 22 players to the club as he prepared his squad for an assault on the Premier League for the first time in 23 years. The number of new signings have sparked debates around football with the Swansea chief executive labelling it as ‘bonkers’.

Ahead of the meeting between the two sides, former Leicester full-back Simpson has pointed out one of the problems that Forest could face as they look to turn around their season.
“I think when a team is going through tough times, I think sometimes you need that cohesion and you need to have friendships,” he told TalkSPORT. “And you’ve got 20, 21, 22 players that have been thrown into a mix who probably don’t know a lot about each other.
“How many of them text each other after training or a game? How many of them meet up for a coffee? I can’t see there being many unless they instantly clicked, and I think sometimes going through tough times, in teams I’ve been in, what’s got us through that is that core of players who are quite close.
“Whether that’s fighting relegation or winning trophies or getting into Europe. You can talk about a billion players but if you throw them all into a mix it doesn’t always mean that it’s going to work.”
A number of the new signings are set to start against Leicester at the King Power Stadium. Former Leicester loanee Jesse Lingard is among those who will be looking to make an impact.
