Leicester Business Festival gets underway on November 4 – here’s how to find what’s on

The 2022 two week Leicester Business Festival starts on Monday, November 7 with a launch event at Leicester Riders’ Morningside Arena.

The festival, now in its eighth year, will feature 82 free-to-attend events ranging from talks about going net zero, to guidance on some of the biggest things troubling business owners right now, digital marketing workshops and how to engage young people with your business.

This year’s festival runs until November 18 at businesses and venues across the city and county and coincides with COP27 – the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference – putting the climate agenda front and centre of many of the events taking place.

Examples of that include a look at how Twycross Zoo is working to share its knowledge of biodiversity, while researchers at De Montfort University will share work they have done with Leicester Nirvana Football Club to work out what is needed to create a net zero grass roots football club. It takes place from noon to 1.30pm on November 11 at Heritage House, on the DMU campus.

The university has been working with the club to identify how a team begins the process of decarbonisation – from travel to games, to players’ diets and nutrition, training kits, clubhouses and lighting and recycling.

The university’s net zero research director Mark Charlton said: “This is a very exciting project, whether you like football or not.

“There are so many aspects to amateur sport that will need addressing as we all work towards a net zero future.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for local businesses to come along and find out more about the actions Leicester Nirvana are taking to reach net zero.”

Rob Ricketts, regional business development manager at the city centre university, said: “At De Montfort University we believe you never stop learning and anyone who is in business knows just how true that is.

“The Leicester Business Festival is a great opportunity for firms to share best practice, a chance for you and your team to make new contacts and see how we can all work together to benefit the city and county.

“We have worked with teams across the university to put on a series of events which showcase the expertise we have here alongside some of our incredible equipment and resources, which we think will really appeal to businesses in Leicester.

“The festival is a truly unique and exciting fortnight full of free business events for everyone to get involved in."
