Steven Bergwijn came off the bench to score two goals in stoppage time and deliver a massive 3-2 win for Tottenham at Leicester on Wednesday night.
Spurs started by far the brighter side with Harry Kane seeing one effort cleared off the line by Luke Thomas before he smacked a close-range header against the crossbar from one of his side’s many corners.
Davinson Sanchez then missed a gilt-edged chance at the far-post before Leicester took the lead.
Patson Daka scurried into the box and made hay of Sergio Reguilon’s tackle inadvertently playing him through on goal, and the Zambian delicately chipped Hugo Lloris for a 24th-minute lead.
The goal settled Leicester’s nerves until Tottenham found a route back into the game through the medium of counter-attacking. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was the next to be denied through a stunning goalline clearance by Marc Albrighton before Kane struck the leveller.
Harry Winks’ quick thinking played Kane through, the striker remaining onside despite a Caglar Soyuncu’s attempts to catch him out, and he turned onto his left foot before netting his 18th goal against his former loan team via the post.
Spurs were generally on top for much of the second-half with Leicester turning to Justin James off the bench, ending his 11-month injury absence to warm applause from around the ground.
A killer blow was absent from the visitors’ play and Kane fired over from distance a number of times, while devoid of options around him.
Harvey Barnes’ introduction swung the game in Leicester’s favour as he linked up with James Maddison for a 75th-minute goal that went in via a deflection at the near-post.
It looke desperate for Tottenham until Steven Bergwijn stabbed home a goalmouth scramble five minutes into stoppage time, before latching onto a Kane pass to round the goalkeeper and squeeze in a stunning winner barely 60 seconds later.
