The second and winningest head coach in the history of the Minnesota Vikings Bud Grant has tragically passed away at age 95.
Known for his toughness, Grant led the Vikings to their only four Super Bowl appearances. He didn’t allow his players to have heaters on the sidelines to keep them tough and that perception made a difference for opponents.
He finished his career with a record of 158-96-5 and was the AP Head Coach of the Year in 1969 and was enshrined in the Hall of Fame class of 1994.
The lasting memories of Grant will be his tough demeanor and legendary garage sales, including this memory from the 2015 wild card game against the Seattle Seahawks when he wore just a polo shirt in -30 degree wind chills.
The wind chill that day was 25 below.
Bud Grant 🙏
