If there’s anything we can count on in this otherwise misogynistic hellscape of a world, it’s that Grace Tame will always be an icon.
During a morning tea event for the 2025 Australian of the Year recipients, 2021 winner Tame was seen greeting Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his fiancée Jodie Haydon in a truly iconic ensemble: a t-shirt that read ‘Fuck Murdoch’.
Tame has previously criticised the billionaire business tycoon, Rupert Murdoch, and his media empire in a 2023 op-ed to Crikey.
Ugh, we can’t help but stan.
Albanese hosted the event at his Canberra home, The Lodge, where both former winners and current finalists shared tea with the PM.
The shirt was made by local Aussie brand Lonely Kids Club (in case you want to snatch it up for yourself).

The internet also chimed in to show their support and admiration for Tame’s statement-via-shirt stunt.
“Hell yeah, Grace Tame is a true badass. She never wavers from her values, and for that reason she gets my utmost respect” wrote one Reddit user.
“Grace wearing a “Fuck Murdoch” shirt shows more guts than the entire Labor government combined… And it’s a shirt, people…” Said another.
In 2022, Tame made headlines for giving a (well-deserved) icy side-eye to then-PM Scott Morrison.
She later commented on the encounter on X (formerly Twitter), saying that abuse culture is “dependent on submissive smiles, self-defeating surrenders and hypocrisy”.
“What I did wasn’t an act of martyrdom in the gender culture war.
“It’s true that many women are sick of being told to smile, often by men, for the benefit of men. But it’s not just women who are conditioned to smile and conform to the visibly rotting status-quo.
“It’s all of us.” She wrote.
The 2025 Australian of the Year awards will air on January 25 on ABC TV and ABC iview from 7:30 AEDT.
