A jewel in the crown of Olympic competition is questioning the finally unveiled venue plan for Brisbane's 2032 Games, claiming it has again been overlooked.
Athletics featured heavily in the promotion of the Olympics infrastructure blueprint revealed by the Queensland government on Tuesday after a 100-day review and plenty of false starts.
The most popular Olympic sport will be showcased at the event's centrepiece, a new 63,000-seat stadium in inner Brisbane's Victoria Park.
And it looks set to live up to its billing, with Australia's rising sprint star Gout Gout potentially one of 2032's biggest stories.
But Athletics Australia CEO Simon Hollingsworth says there is no legacy for the sport in the venue plan, with the running track to be removed post-Games.

"We were shocked that there was nothing in there for athletics, given most other sports received some great legacies," he told AAP.
"Our feeling was a bit mixed. We're delighted our athletes can be showcased on the world stage in a stadium that is going to be amazing.
"But also we have to think about what is the legacy for us as a sport."
He claimed athletics had already been "overlooked" at other major events on home soil - the 2006 Melbourne and 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
"In that sense we feel like we've missed out again," Mr Hollingsworth said.
"We were surprised we were overlooked, particularly because athletics featured so heavily in the promotion of the success of the Games yesterday."
Mr Hollingsworth hoped to discuss legacy opportunities with the Queensland government.
The top options are leaving the 2032 warm-up track as a fit-for-purpose facility or revamping the ageing Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre.

Gymnastics and canoeing also have issues with proposed infrastructure.
The previous Labor government promised a $257 million upgrade of Chandler Sports Precinct in Brisbane's south that was set to showcase gymnastics in 2032.
However Gymnastics Queensland CEO Chris Rushton on Wednesday said the sport was in limbo after being "snubbed" in the Liberal National government's latest plan.
"We are a bit in the dark over our future in the 2032 Games," he told AAP.
"We were told Chandler would be a game-changer but now ... unfortunately everything is up in the air.
Gymnastics Queensland is hopeful for a legacy project, saying it expected to boast 100,000 members by 2032.
The venue plan was a mixed bag for Paddle Australia which was ecstatic over a new whitewater facility at Redlands near Brisbane that will host canoe slalom.
It will be only the second world-class whitewater facility built in Australia after Penrith Whitewater Stadium was constructed for Sydney 2000.
However they weren't so happy about sprint canoeing and Para Canoe being held on Rockhampton's Fitzroy River in crocodile country.
"It was a big surprise," Paddle Australia CEO Kim Crane told AAP.
The central Queensland river's current was the biggest concern, with the world canoe body already confirming it did not meet the standards to stage international events.
"The crocs are a nice headline but the current is the main issue," Ms Crane said.
The Gold Coast hinterland's Hinze Dam had been a preferred site.

Brisbane 2032 boss Andrew Liveris on Wednesday said his team would work with each sport to ensure the venue plan was delivered.
However one fly in the ointment comes in the form of protesters who are considering legal action that may halt the proposed Victoria Park stadium development.
Meanwhile, the Queensland government on Wednesday said a priority development area would be placed on the site opposite the Gabba which was set to feature an 18,000-seat Brisbane Arena for 2032.
