Leeds woman's horror after 'spliff smoker' seen 'dragging' tired pocket bulldog puppy along street

An Armley woman has shared her horror after seeing a puppy being "dragged" along a tarmac footpath.

While walking down Armley Town Street a resident, who does not want to be named, said she saw a dog she believes was less than three months old "shaking" and "terrified" on Thursday (March 17).

The 25-year-old recalls the dog, thought to be a Pocket Bulldog was "so scared" that it didn't want to walk along the path. She said the dog was "untrained".

A man wearing a black tracksuit was seen "smoking a spliff" while "dragging" the dog along the road, branding the little pup "lazy".

The witness, who is also a dog owner, said: "I was walking down the street and saw the poor little thing had its ears docked. The puppy didn't want to walk so it kept stopping on the pavement. It was shaking.

"The man was literally pulling the dog along the tarmac by its lead. He was absolutely dragging the poor thing by its collar and lead all the way down.

"The puppy didn't want to walk so kept stopping on the pavement. The dog looked frightened to death." The resident couldn't watch the dog upset any longer and confronted the man.

She added: "I approached him and he then picked it up with one arm under his armpit - big spliff in the other hand and said the dog is 'just f***ing lazy'.

"I've had dogs all my life. Puppies of that age need lead training. Armley Town Street is busy and the traffic was loud.

"The puppy was just frightened. It was awful to witness.

"I was shaking afterwards because I was so mad."

The woman in her 20s added she has not reported to the incident to the police or RSPCA.
