Leeds weather today and tomorrow: Hour-by-hour Met Office forecast as Storm Malik set to hit city

Storm Malik is set to batter Leeds this weekend with gale force winds and wintery rain expected across the next few days.

From Saturday into Sunday, residents across the entire Yorkshire region can expect to see gusts of up to 60mph particularly across the Pennines and into North Yorkshire, as a combination of rain, cloud and scattered sunny spells accompany the brutal winds.

Temperatures however, will remain relatively stable, with a maximum of 12°C during the day, and a minimum of -2°C overnight.

A yellow warning from the Met Office has also been issued across much of Northern England, including parts of Yorkshire, with residents advised to take extra care from 6pm on Sunday to 12pm on Monday, when the weather will be at its peak.

Strong Winds in the region are likely to cause some travel disruption, with passengers advised to check their journeys before travelling.

The weather is also expected to generate large and dangerous waves around the coasts, with a number of power cuts also potentially occurring, which may affect other services such as mobile phone coverage.

It’s a windy start for Leeds this weekend as the city welcomes winds of 58mph on Saturday morning as Storm Malik begins to get underway.

The initial peak will be around 11am on Saturday morning, before dropping slightly to the high to mid 40s at 3pm, when the speeds are expected to drop to 31mph for the remainder of the afternoon.

Into the evening and overnight, the winds will calm further, hovering at around the mid-20mph mark.

The skies in Leeds are expected to remain clear overnight, with temperatures dropping to a minimum of 2°C.

Throughout Sunday itself, skies will remain dry but cloudy , with sunny intervals scattered throughout until around sunset at 4.43pm.

From 5pm onwards Leeds can expect to see heavy rain showers accompanied by increasing wind speeds, peaking at around 45mph by midnight.

High winds will continue overnight into Monday, before returning to a more seasonal norm at around 3pm.
