Leeds United youth star's father confident son can achieve where he failed at Elland Road

Former Leeds United midfielder Sebastien Carole believes his son Keenan is capable of achieving what he never did at Elland Road. Keenan signed his first professional deal at Leeds earlier this month after some impressive performances in the Under-18s side last season.

The 17-year-old put pen-to-paper on a two year contract with the Whites as he aims to continue his surge towards the club’s first team in the coming seasons. His Dad Sebastien spent two years at Leeds between 2006 and 2008 but struggled to ever really assert himself.

He scored three goals in 52 appearances before his release and speaking to French outlet Nice-Matin, he claimed he never had the work rate to succeed at a club like Leeds. Sebastian believes his son is the complete opposite to him, though, and is hopeful Keenan can achieve great things in West Yorkshire.

He said: “I had talent, yes, but I didn’t really like getting hurt. Let’s say that I was not a hard worker. On the other hand, Keenan, one of my three sons, is quite the opposite. He has crazy energy on the pitch, can do a lot of things, with and without the ball.

“He deserves it because, in parallel with his studies, he shows immense seriousness. He is a good kid, who makes a lot of effort to succeed. This is just one step in his career. He plays in the same position as me but he does it with much more determination.

“I had signed to play in the Premier League, but we ended up relegated. But it remains an exceptional adventure, there were 45,000 people in Elland Road, madness. It would be a very good story for him to succeed in what I couldn’t do at Leeds.”
