Leeds United are reportedly keen on a deadline day deal for Marseille striker Bamba Dieng, according to Sky Sports. They claim the Whites have switched their attention towards the 22-year-old after their failed pursuits of Cody Gakpo and Hwang Hee-Chan.
Director of Football Victor Orta was in Eindhoven last night to try wrap up a deal for Gakpo but returned to West Yorkshire empty handed after PSV turned down a deal. But Leeds are now in discussions to bring Dieng to Elland Road ahead of the deadline in less than 12 hours’ time.
Reports from France had indicated Dieng was on the verge of a move to Lorient but Leeds have swooped in late on to try steal the striker from under the noses of the French side. Dieng made the move to Marseille in 2020 and was handed his senior debut for the club in the 2020/21 campaign.

That said, Dieng really made his breakthrough into the Marseille side last season as he made 36 appearances in all competitions, 17 of which came from the start. Dieng put up some decent numbers in that period, scoring eight goals and providing three assists – averaging out to a goal contribution every 142 minutes played.
He was also part of the Senegal side that won the African Cup of Nations for the first time earlier this year. Dieng scored one goal in his five appearances at the tournament, and started in the semi-final win over Burkina Faso.
