Leeds United Under-21s’ Papa John’s Trophy fixtures have been released with the Whites set to make three journeys across the Pennines. The young Leeds outfit were last week drawn into Group B, alongside former Premier League outfit Bolton Wanderers and League Two sides Crewe Alexandra and Tranmere Rovers.
All three will be away games for the Whites and they’ll kick off their Papa John’s Trophy campaign on Tuesday 30th August with the Tranmere clash at Prenton Park. They’ll then head to Crewe on Tuesday 20th September and the University of Bolton Stadium on Tuesday 18th October.
The club will be hoping for a better showing in the competition than last year, having seen their young side finish bottom of the group. They did pick up a win last time around, seeing off Oldham Athletic 3-2, but heavy defeats came against Tranmere and Salford City to kill their hopes of progressing to the knockout stages.

The competition will provide Leeds’ brightest young stars with the invaluable opportunity to test themselves against men and senior opposition. There has been changes made to the youth system this summer, with the Premier League 2 changing from an under-23s competition to under-21s.
