Leeds United U23s player ratings: Sean McGurk and Crysencio Summerville shine in narrow defeat

Kristoffer Klaesson: 6

Didn’t have too much to do after the first 10 minutes or so, in which he picked the ball out of the back of his net twice. Was unlucky to concede late on, too.

Harvey Sutcliffe: 7

Handled the skilful Sam Edozie well for the most part. Had some tidy touches, especially in the first half, too.

Liam McCarron: 6

Both Man City’s first-half goals came down his side, but he got back well on a couple of occasions to frustrate the visitors.

Nohan Kenneh: 6

Looked the part on the ball but got caught out on a couple of occasions.

Charlie Cresswell: 6

Dealt with Liam Delap’s threat really well, marking him out of the game and limiting his impact until he scored in the last five minutes or so.

Jack Jenkins: 7

A dogged performance through the middle. He never stopped running. Probably should have worked the keeper with his big chance in the second half.

Crysencio Summerville: 8

Ran rings round Man City at times. They couldn’t deal with his speed as he regularly latched onto balls over the top and he asked questions throughout. Got a few shots away but couldn’t find the back of the net.

Lewis Bate: 7

Some tidy touches through the middle. He worked really hard and produced a couple of fine threaded balls through the line to kickstart attacks.

Mateo Joseph: 7

Took his goal really well, burying it from a tight angle. Made his presence felt with his hold up ability, bringing others into play well.

Archie Gray: 7

Handled the occasion really well, kept working and managed to catch the eye a couple of times. He’s only 16 but he held his own physically.

Sean McGurk: 8

Involved in most things Leeds did well on the night. His energy was impressive as was his technical ability as he turned his man inside out on a few occasions.

Amari Miller: 6

Had a couple of bright moments and worked hard during his 25 minutes or so on the field.

Stuart McKinstry: 6

Didn’t really make too much of an impact on the game.

Not used: Dani Van der Heuvel, Charlie Allen, Jeremiah Mullen.
