Leeds United U21s team to face Norwich City offers first-team FA Cup selection clues

Mateo Joseph and Darko Gyabi will both feature for Leeds United Under-21s this afternoon against Norwich City. With the first-team travelling to face Accrington Stanley in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday, Jesse Marsch is expected to make changes and Joseph and Gyabi will have been amongst those hoping to be involved.

However, the pair have been named in the U21s starting line-up to take on the Canaries this afternoon and that’s enough to suggest they probably won’t make the trip to the Wham Stadium. There’s no Sonny Perkins, who bagged his first senior goal in the third round of the cup earlier this month, and it seems as though he could be involved in some capacity against Accrington.

There’s no Cody Drameh, either, of course, following his loan switch to Luton Town and that makes for changes in the back line with Jeremiah Mullen set to wear the number two shirt. Morten Spencer slots in the middle of the defence, while Connor Ferguson, who recently penned professional terms starts in place of Kris Moore at left-back.

Cian Coleman comes in to play alongside Gyabi in the middle, while the front four has a young feel about it, with U18s players Marley Wilson and Max McFadden getting the nod alongside Sean McGurk and Joseph.

The bench looks inexperienced at this level, too, but U18s top scorer Ben Andreucci will be looking to get minutes in the U21s.

Norwich’s first-team don’t have a game this weekend and that allows them to name a strong side for this one. Adam Idah is involved, as is Angus Gunn, Sam McCallum, Marcelino Nunez, Liam Gibbs and Daniel Sinani.

Leeds United U21s: Kristoffer Klaesson; Jeremiah Mullen, James Debayo, Morten Spencer, Connor Ferguson; Cian Coleman, Darko Gyabi; Marley Wilson, Max McFadden, Sean McGurk; Mateo Joseph.

Bench: Harry Christy, Connor Douglas, Jay Buchan, Ben Andreucci, Daniel Toulson.
