Leeds United U21s ratings as Greenwood and Aaronson stand out in hard-fought Aston Villa win

Kristoffer Klaesson: Made a couple of decent saves in both halves. Could do little to prevent Villa’s goal but more than held his own. 7

Kris Moore: Caught out early but recovered well to provide a physical edge down the right. Assisted Aaronson’s goal well. 7

Diogo Monteiro: Relished his battle with Villa striker Chisom Afoka. Looked the part once again. 7

Jeremiah Mullen: Called into action on a couple of occasions early on and acquitted himself well. 7

Connor Ferguson: Built on a decent performance at Newcastle last week with another promising showing down the left. 7

Darko Gyabi: Neat and tidy in the middle as always, impressed with his range of inch-perfect passing. Had a hand in both Leeds goals. 7

Morten Spencer: Got stuck in in the middle of the park, linked play well. 6

Sonny Perkins: Looked to make things happen and saw plenty of the ball, too, but he couldn’t find too much success. 6

Brenden Aaronson: Lively coming in off the flank. Took his goal very well, holding off his man before lashing the ball across the keeper and into the bottom corner. Probably should have had another moments later. 7

Mateo Joseph: Carved out a couple of great opportunities but couldn’t take any of them. 6

Georginio Rutter: Missed with an early sighter and struggled to find his way into the game at times. Replaced at half-time with 45 valuable minutes under his belt. 5

Sam Greenwood (Aaronson 46): Completely took control of the game in the second half. Hit the crossbar with a sumptuous effort from range and created a number of goal scoring opportunities for his teammates. 8

Charlie Allen (Rutter 46): Got the better of Seb Revan on a number of occasions with his pace and set up the winner. 6

Sean McGurk (Perkins 65): Looked lively when he came on. Took the winning goal very well, lashing Allen’s deflected cross home. 7

Joe Snowdon (Spencer 68): Busy during the final 20 minutes of the contest. 6

Subs not used: Harry Christy.
