Leeds United U21s player ratings as Kris Moore and Mateo Joseph shine in Southampton win

Dani van den Heuvel: Made some important saves early in the first half and latched himself onto any ball that came his way, high or low. Couldn't have done much about their goal. 8

James Debayo: Got the assist for the second goal, did really well to control the right-hand side and link up with Allen. 7

Connor Ferguson: Played well down the left, didn't push too far up past the halfway line and did well to soldier on after an awkward landing early in the second half. 6

Jeremiah Mullen: Bagged his first of the season with a nice flick past McCarthy, looked very solid at the back and absorbed pressure perfectly. Played his part in stopping Ballard. 8

Kris Moore: Fantastic defensive performance, made some vital blocks in key moments. Was always the first to head the ball away from corners and shut down Ballard. 9

Morten Spencer: Was the heart of the midfield, received an early yellow card but did well to keep his head and never dived in recklessly again. Nice passing also. 7

Charlie Allen: Showed off his pace down the right-hand touchline, put in some dangerous crosses in both halves. Always looked a threat on the counter-attack. 7

Darko Gyabi: Put himself about really well, was more often than not the winner of many 50/50 tackles. Picked up a yellow card for a pretty brutal challenge but nonetheless a good showing. 7

Mateo Joseph: Made his mark after just three minutes, was a constant threat and should've had a second or third with the chances he had. Unfortunate not to find another but a great performance. 8

Sonny Perkins: Got into some good areas but couldn't finish his chances. Made an impact getting back towards his own goal, picking up the ball as well. Deserved to get a goal. 7

Joe Snowdon: Flawlessly ran the game for the first 25 minutes, vision was fantastic throughout. Set up Joseph's opening goal and was unfortunate to come off so early in the second half. 8

Luca Thomas (On for Snowden, 52'): Had a chance for Leeds' third, did well to control it but hit the side-netting. Was unlucky his flick didn't find a third for Leeds after a goal line clearance. 7

Charlie Crew (On for Joseph, 63'): Made some good passes through on goal but chances weren't finished. 6

Cian Coleman (On for Gyabi, 63'): Carried the ball well in the Southampton half, was booked for quite a silly foul. 6

Connor Douglas (On for Perkins, 84'): Didn't have much impact after coming on late. N/A

Subs not used: Harry Christy.
