Leeds United U18s in goalfest as they put seven past Derby County

High scoring games have been a theme of Leeds United fixtures this season, with the first-team, Under 23s and Under 18s all taking part in goalfests at various times.

Saturday was the turn of the under-18s as the young Whites ran out 7-0 victors over Derby County at Thorp Arch.

Fiftheen-year-old Archie Gray featured in the match, despite being a fixture in the Under 23s on several occasions this season, as well as even making the match day squad for the first-team.

The youngster got his name on the scoresheet, as well as picking up a booking and the Whites had five different goalscorers on the day. The opening goal was an own goal, as Derby's Eli Christie put through his own net in the 38th minute. Jay Buchan then added to the lead in the 44th minute.

Leeds then found their shooting boots in the second half as Joe Snowdon scored a penalty in the 53rd minute before Luca Thomas and Gray joined in the act over the next eight minutes.

Lui Bradbury then bagged a brace as the home side ran up the scoreline.

This was the first win for the under-18s in seven matches, after they had drawn two before losing four consecutive games. Notably, they kept a clean sheet today after conceding five or more in all of those losses.

The three points puts the Whites tenth in the table, although all but one of the four teams below them in the league have at least two games in hand.
