Leeds United transfer rumours: Brenden Aaronson deal now under threat after being '90%' done

Danger of relegation threatens to kill deal '90% likely to happen

Leeds United made Brenden Aaronson their number one target in the January transfer window but they saw two bids rejected by RB Salzburg as the Austrian Champions clung on to the American international. The Whites still hope to make a deal for the attacking midfielder in the summer, but that deal could evaporate, should the club suffer relegation to the Championship.

Leeds have three games remaining to seal their Premier League status for next season and transfer insider, Dean Jones, told Give Me Sport that it was vital they do so if they want to secure their target: "It would kill their chances of signing players like Brenden Aaronson as well (being relegated). He is a prime target, and I think if they stay up, there is a 90 per cent chance that Brendan Aaronson signs, but if Leeds are relegated, that does not happen."

Whites linked with 26-year-old international goalkeeper

Meanwhile, since Kiko Casilla departed from Elland Road, Leeds' most senior goalkeepers are both in their early twenties, with both Illan Meslier and Kristoffer Klaesson being current U21 internationals. According to reports in Turkey, that could change next season.

Leeds are said to be battling Newcastle United and Fulham for the signing of 26-year-old Turkish international, Urugcan Cakir.

That's according to Football League World. They state that Fulham will make an offer for the goalkeeper in the next few weeks, with the other two sides mentioned keeping tabs on the situation.
