Leeds United transfer rumours as Wolves reportedly jump ahead in race for Coventry City star

Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Friday, 30 December 2022.

Wolves lead race

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly leading a host of Premier League clubs in the race to sign Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres. That is according to Football League World, who claim that Wolves have moved ahead of Leeds United, Brentford, Crystal Palace and Southampton with an offer in the pipeline.

Leeds are in the market for a new striker when the window opens in a couple of days and have already been beaten to the signing of Matheus Cunha by Wolves. Gyokeres is currently the joint highest scorer in the Championship this season with 12 goals in 23 appearances so far.

Koch set for new deal

Robin Koch is reportedly set to be the next Leeds United player to be handed a new contract, according to the Athletic. The Whites have already tied Pascal Struijk (2027) and Diego Llorente (2026) to new contracts with Koch set to follow suit in the coming weeks.

Koch's current deal at Elland Road is set to expire in 2024 and Leeds are keen to sign him to a new long-term deal. The German international has been a regular so far this season, starting all 15 Premier League matches.

Adams claim

Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams has been backed to succeed Sofyan Amrabat at Fiorentina in the event of his departure by Andrea Rocchigiani. Amrabat shone for Morocco in the World Cup as he helped his country become the first African team to reach the semi-finals of the competition.

As a result of his displays, Amrabat has been linked with a host of big clubs including Liverpool and Tottenham. And former Fiorentina man Rocchigiani believes the Italian side should take the money for Amrabat next month and invest 'a lot of money' in signing Adams as his replacement.

He told Firenze Viola: “I would take a midfielder. If they gave me €40m for Amrabat, I would sell him immediately, even in January. Because in June, I don’t know if that figure would arrive again. I’d put a lot of money on Adams (Leeds midfielder), he reminds me of Torreira.

“He’s not as strong as him, but he’s an excellent midfielder who’s still quite young. He presses a lot and he impressed me at the World Cup.”
