Frank McAvennie tells Leeds United forward Joe Gelhardt to go out on loan
Former Celtic forward Frank McAvennie believes Leeds United forward Joe Gelhardt must find a loan move away from Elland Road in order to further his development.
While Gelhardt has been involved with the Whites first team this term, he has yet to have been given serious game time by Leeds boss Jesse Marsch.
The 20-year-old played 44 and 59 minutes against Everton and Brentford respectively but has otherwise by handed minor cameo appearances off the bench for Leeds this season.

And McAvennie feels it would do the promising striker the world of good to go out on loan so that he can play regularly at a decent level, rather than picking up minutes in the Leeds Under 21 side.
"I think it is so important because I do not think they get it playing with the youth teams,” McAvennie told Football Insider.
"Reserve games were the best thing for youngsters. There were players who were not getting a game and they would play in the reserve game, especially with the squads they have got nowadays. There would always be four or five experienced players alongside the youngsters. They do not do that now so you have to have game time.
"I keep saying if you are not playing, I am all for anyone leaving and going on loan. David Beckham went on loan and it didn’t do him any harm, he grew up when he was away. You have got to play, it is part of your development as a young kid."
Leeds United reportedly have Charlie Cresswell recall clause
Leeds United are said to have the option of recalling Charlie Cresswell from Millwall in January.
The 20-year-old is one of a host of promising players the Whites have on their books at this moment and has been an ever present for Gary Rowett's side in the Championship this term.
And according to Sky Sports reporter Tim Thornton, Jesse Marsch and co could choose to bring the talented defender back to Elland Road in January should they wish to.
"I think there’s a recall option, potentially in January," Thornton told GIVEMESPORT.
“But I would expect him to stay at Millwall all season and then come back next season and try to force his way into the first team.”
