Leeds United transfer rumours as Whites handed young winger boost

Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Sunday, June 5.

Leeds handed boost in potential pursuit of Plata

While a wide midfielder isn’t necessarily one of the priorities at Elland Road in the summer transfer window, Leeds must have a contingency plan in place in case Raphinha and/or Jack Harrison leave the club. Multiple reports have claimed that Gonzalo Plata is on the radar after a breakthrough season on loan at Real Valladolid from Sporting Lisbon.

He helped the Spanish side to promotion from the second tier with six goals and five assists but there are questions over whether they can afford £8.5m to make his loan move a permanent one, according to the June 4 edition of O Jogo. That is where Leeds may look to come in and steal the Ecuadorian from under Valladolid’s noses.

Helder Costa tipped for exit door

On the subject of wide midfielders, Helder Costa will return to Leeds this summer after his unsuccessful loan spell at Valencia. The La Liga outfit are not at all interested in exercising their option to make the move permanent after he struggled to make his mark at the Mestalla.

As one of the players on big wages at Elland Road, there is likely to be a desire to move Costa on permanently this summer. The Daily Mail have claimed that he might be sacrificed if the Whites want to significantly strengthen the squad over the next few months.

Although, Jesse Marsch might be keen to evaluate the 28-year-old upon his return as he looks to revive his career.

Kristensen comments on potential move

After his former team mate Brenden Aaronson signed on the dotted line in West Yorkshire, Rasmus Kristensen looks set to follow suit. However, as he is currently away on international duty with Denmark, confirmation probably won’t come just yet.

The 24-year-old right-back admitted that he wants to ignore the noise while with his national team but still had time to endear himself to the Leeds fans. He said: "It may be that he [his agent] is waiting to tell me something so I can stay focused on the national team these days," he told Bold. “I have asked to be barred from getting information until I have to make a choice.

"No, not the last few days, but I do not need to google Leeds United to know about that club. There is both a former teammate and my former coach who has switched to them.

“It is a huge club, a traditional club. It is the world's best league, and it will be huge to get a foot in there."
