Leeds United transfer rumours as Victor Orta 'fails in Rodrigo Sevilla bid' and Farke out claim

A look at the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Saturday, July 1.

Leeds told to pull plug on Daniel Farke deal and appoint Lee Bowyer

Former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie believes Leeds United should pull out of their deal to sign Daniel Farke as their next manager and appoint Lee Bowyer instead. The former Whites midfielder has been out of a job since leaving Birmingham City at the end of the 2022 campaign, but came through the academy set-up at Elland Road.

“They should hire a profile similar to Lee Bowyer,” McAvennie told Football Insider. “He played for the club, he has them in his heart and a manager like that is what they would need to get back into the Premier League.

“Give someone like Bowyer a chance, and the fans would love one of their own to come in and they would show the passion needed on matchdays. Similar to Duncan Ferguson at Everton a couple years back, that helped them reignite the season.

“It is a worrying situation for Leeds as I would not like to see them go back into oblivion again as they are a Premier League club.”

Rodrigo Sevilla talks 'break down over wages'

Former Leeds United sporting director Victor Orta has reportedly failed in his attempts to convince Rodrigo Moreno to move to Sevilla this summer. The Whites striker is expected to leave Elland Road with a relegation release clause inserted into his current contract and is a target for a number of high profile clubs.

Journalist Javier Bautista has now told El Partidazo de COPE a deal between Sevilla and Rodrigo is off the table after failing to agree on wages. Rodrigo still has one-year remaining on his deal but relegation to the Championship has opened the door for an exit.

Orta knows his fellow Spaniard well from their time at Leeds and was keen on a reunion at the La Liga side.
