Leeds United transfer rumours as Spanish side 'leads way' in race for Whites-linked striker

Here are your latest Leeds United transfer rumours for Friday, October 21.

Brereton Diaz race

Sevilla are leading Leeds, Everton and Fulham in the race to sign Ben Brereton Diaz from Blackburn Rovers in January, according to the Football Insider.

Brereton Diaz has been learning Spanish since choosing to represent Chile at international level in 2021 and is said to be open to a move to Spain.

The Chilean international was a target for Leeds in the summer and the Whites are expected to retain their interest in the forward when the transfer window reopens in January.

His contract at Ewood Park expires at the end of the season and Blackburn are reportedly willing to listen to offers, with foreign clubs able to sign him on a pre-contract agreement in the winter.

Brereton Diaz ended last season with a formidable total of 22 goals and has continued his glistening form with eight goals in his first 16 league games this term.

Meslier relief

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly 'readying' a bid to sign Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili next year as Antonio Conte steps up his search for Hugo Lloris' successor.

Lloris is currently enjoying his 11th season in North London and only penned a new contract as recently as January to extend his stay until 2024. But focus is quickly switching to life after their 35-year-old captain, with Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier previously being lined up to replace his French compatriot.

But Marca (via TEAMtalk) have claimed that Mamardashvili is Tottenham's number-one target in a potential deal that will cost in the region of £25 million. Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Jan Oblak have also been linked with Spurs, but Mamardashvili is viewed as a more realistic target.

The 22-year-old has established himself as Valencia's first-choice goalkeeper this term and has started each of their 10 La Liga games. The Georgian international has only conceded 11 times during that period, but has kept just two clean sheets.'

Sinisterra dilemma

Leeds will refuse to release Luis Sinisterra to play in an international friendly for Colombia next month, according to Colombian outlet Win Sports.

Colombia failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar but are scheduled to face Paraguay in an international friendly just two days before the tournament in Florida.

FIFA rules state that clubs are not obligated to release their players for international duty outside of the official FIFA dates.

Sinisterra scored his first international goals for Colombia during the previous international break. He climbed off the bench to net his maiden goal in a 4-1 win over Guatemala, before scoring twice as Colombia came from two goals down to beat Mexico.

The 23-year-old has scored three goals in six starts across all competitions for Leeds since signing from Feyenoord in the summer. He was sent off in the goalless draw against Aston Villa earlier this month, but returned to action with a start in Sunday's defeat against Arsenal.
