Leeds United transfer rumours as out-of-contract ace rules out January move to Elland Road

Here are your Leeds United transfer rumours and gossip on Thursday, November 10.

Out-of-contract ace rules out January move to Leeds United

Leeds United transfer target Ben Brereton Diaz has ruled out a move to Elland Road in the January transfer window, saying he plans on staying Blackburn Rovers.

Interest has reportedly been shown from numerous Premier League clubs including the Whites, as well as Aston Villa, West Ham and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Due to his contract being set to run out at the end of this season, Brereton Diaz is unlikely to sign an extension but told talkSPORT that he was focused on continuing to play well for Blackburn - where he's scored nine goals in their 20 league appearances so far.

"I’ve just got to concentrate on playing for Rovers week-in, week-out; putting results in and scoring goals for the club. Hopefully, yeah (I’ll stay beyond January). I’ll be there until the end of the season.

"We’re going to the play-offs and we’re trying to get promoted. We’re all bought into that and the players are working hard every day. And this is what we want as a club, for the supporters to get back to the top.

"We’re going to put good work in until Christmas, have a little break and go again."

Premier League left-back admits Leeds United contract talks before signing to rivals

Southampton left-back Romain Perraud has admitted that he almost signed for Leeds United last summer after he was 'approached' by the club.

Perraud eventually joined the Saints after leaving Stade Brestois for a fee of £11 million so the Whites had to settle with Dominican defender Junior Firpo.

Speaking to French outlet So Foot, Perraud explained how he could've landed at Elland Road instead of St. Mary's Stadium in the summer of 2021.

"In January – February 2021, I was approached by Leeds and Southampton. From there, I let my agents deal with it. My first mission was to leave the Stade Brestois.

"Afterwards, the talks accelerated towards the month of April. It was a very stressful end to the season. It was Leeds who contacted me first. But the negotiations stopped quite suddenly.

"Southampton were very warm, the project immediately seduced me. The club seemed to me structured, rather healthy, and the philosophy of play suited me. Then the club’s recruiter told me that he had seen me play 52 times. That gave me confidence."
