Leeds United transfer rumours as Inter Milan set Hakan Calhanoglu price tag amid Whites interest

Here are your latest Leeds United transfer rumours for Monday, February 27.

Inter Milan set Hakan Calhanoglu price tag amid Leeds United interest

Inter Millan have set a starting price of €25 million (£22m) for Turkish midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu amid reported interest from Leeds.

According to Fichajes, Leeds and fellow Premier League rivals Southampton are among a number of clubs in England to have expressed an interest in the Turkish international.

His contract expires in June 2024, but the Serie A heavyweights could be willing to sell him in order to balance their accounts and avoid letting him go for free.

Calhanoglu has registered three goals and six assists in 30 games in Serie A and the Champions League combined this term.

The 29-year-old joined Inter from their bitter rivals AC Milan in 2021, and also previously played in Germany for Karlsruher SC, and later Hamburger SV and Bayer Leverkusen respectively.

Leeds' wanted to sign Ruben Loftus-Cheek under Jesse Marsch

Leeds wanted to sign Ruben Loftus-Cheek when Jesse Marsch was at the helm, and they could revive their interest in the Chelsea midfielder in the summer.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, Loftus-Cheek could leave Chelsea in the summer, and Leeds could be a possible destination for the Englishman.

Phillips wrote on his substack: “Ruben Loftus-Cheek is another who could depart this summer. The 27-year-old hasn’t recaptured his 2018/29 form in which he scored 10 goals and played 40 games in all competitions. Keep an eye on Newcastle, who rate a number of Chelsea players, including Conor Gallagher and Christian Pulisic.

“Leicester always seem to be linked with Loftus-Cheek, too, but they have never actually made a significant move. Don’t discount Leeds either. A lot will depend on their new manager, but Loftus-Cheek was one Jesse Marsch was quite intent on for the summer prior to being sacked.”

Loftus-Cheek has played 15 times in the Premier League for the Blues this term, and has alternated between his newfound role at right-wing back, and his traditional position in the heart of midfield.
