Here are your Leeds United transfer rumours on Monday, February 21.
Middlesbrough full-back 'on Leeds radar'
Many football fans up and down the country have been surprised to see that Middlesbrough sanctioned the loan exit of the high-flying Djed Spence after his performances in the Championship and the FA Cup this season.
However, the form of Isaiah Jones under Chris Wilder has totally justified that decision as he has scored one goal and added nine assists from right-wing-back this term so far.
According to TEAMtalk, 22-year-old Jones is on Leeds’ summer transfer radar with a number of other teams also said to monitoring his situation.
Arsenal, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Wolves are the other Premier League sides said to be tracking Jones while Atletico, Ajax, Leipzig, Lyon and Roma are the clubs across Europe in the battle for his signature.
Pundit's Bielsa Man United claim
Former Chelsea forward Tony Cascarino has risked the ire of Leeds United fans by suggesting that Marcelo Bielsa could be an 'incredible' candidate to take over and become Manchester United's next manager.
The Argentine guided the Whites to a ninth place finish last season, but have suffered with a number of injuries this season which has seen them fall down the Premier League table.
However, Cascarino has been impressed by Bielsa since Leeds were promoted to the top-flight and admitted he could be a good fit for the Red Devils.
"I personally love his brand of football. I think he’d be an incredible fit for Manchester United, they haven’t even considered a manager like Bielsa," Cascarino said on talkSPORT via the Boot Room.
"I think he overachieves with players. So if he had a group like Manchester United have got, let’s be honest.
"Man United’s team, you can’t compare it to Leeds. There’s a massive difference between the two and the levels they’ve achieved."
Clubs expected to circle for Phillips in summer
As Whites fans know only too well, all the transfer discussion in the summer won’t solely be focused around incomings as a handful of Leeds stars are the subjects of transfer interest.
Kalvin Phillips has been linked with a move away from West Yorkshire over the last 12 months after impressing in the Premier League and his ongoing contract situation is leaving his future at the club in limbo.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Paul Brown expects Leeds to be fielding concrete offers when the transfer window opens in the summer.
He said: “In terms of his future, there will definitely be clubs in for him in the summer.”
Phillips and Raphinha’s contracts remain top of the agenda at Elland Road with Leeds desperate to tie the pair down to extended deals before the sharks begin to circle at the end of the season.
