Ilias Akhomach deal collapses amid Leeds United exodus
Ilias Akhomach's summer switch from Barcelona to Leeds United has collapsed, according to Spanish outlet Sport. The teenager was expected to put pen to paper on a four-year deal at Leeds once his contract at the Camp Nou expired at the end of the season.
The report claims Akhomach won't be heading to West Yorkshire because of the departure of sporting director Victor Orta, and the imminent exit of manager Javi Gracia. Barcelona are finding it 'difficult' to agree a new terms with Akhomach, who is still expected to find a new club when he becomes a free agent in the summer.
Arsenal have shown serious interest in the 19-year-old, while AC Milan and Sevilla could be set to provide competition for the North London outfit. Akhomach has played three senior games for Barcelona but has been unable to successfully negotiate his way out of the 'B' team.
Newcastle monitor Wilfried Gnonto
Wilfried Gnonto's agent may have revealed that he expects him to stay at Elland Road, but that has not stopped other clubs taking a closer look at the teenager.
The Italian international has seen his game time surprisingly reduced under Gracia, who is set to be relieved of his duties after just 10 weeks at the helm.
While Chelsea have been linked with Gnonto in recent weeks, Newcastle are another side that are reportedly monitoring his situation, as Leeds face an almighty scrap to stay in the Premier League.
That is according to NUFC Blog, who claim Gnonto could potentially be 'available on the cheap' if Leeds fail to avoid the drop.
Gnonto started only his third league game under Gracia as Leeds succumbed to another devastating 4-1 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth on Sunday.
The 19-year-old has notched four goals and four assists in his debut season, and has been one of the few bright sparks in a dismal campaign for the Whites.
