Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Sunday, 10 September 2022.
Gakpo
Former PSV Eindhoven star Bjorn van der Doelen believes Cody Gakpo made the right decision in staying at the club as he still needs to prove himself in ‘big matches.’ Gakpo was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League with Leeds United at one stage leading the race on deadline day.
Everything was ready for Gakpo to fly over to Leeds, but the Netherlands international opted to stay at PSV. Speaking on the Skiete Willy Podcast, via Inside Futbol, van der Doelen thinks that was the correct thing to do.
He said: “It is very good news for PSV that Gakpo stayed. If he left then they had to find a replacement, which was not possible.

“Gakpo needs to prove himself more in the big games completely with the qualities he has. That’s why it’s good that he stayed for another season. If he can do that he is ready. It would have been too early.”
Dieng
Leeds United have made no contact with the representatives of Bamba Dieng amid the failed deadline day move, according to Jonathan Shrager. Dieng was on the verge of a move to Elland Road at the end of the summer window but opted against a switch to Leeds in favour of Nice, where that transfer also collapsed due to a failed medical.
Given Leeds’ failure to add a first team striker in the summer, it is likely they will move for one in January. At this stage, however, Dieng does not appear as though he will be someone they target.
Sinisterra
Feyenoord general manager Dennis te Kloese is hopeful the success of Luis Sinisterra so far at Leeds United will encourage more South American players to move to the club. Sinisterra has enjoyed an excellent start to life in English football, scoring in all of his first three starts, including two in the Premier League.
The Colombian was picked out by Leeds as a replacement for the outgoing Raphinha after netting 23 goals and providing 14 assists in all competitions for Feyenoord last season. Speaking to Algemeen Dagblad, via TeamTalk, te Kloese claimed Sinisterra’s success could encourage players in the future to take a similar career path.
He said: “If you reach the final of the Conference League, it’s a calling card. Players want to go to Feyenoord now.
“For boys from South America or Mexico the Premier League is a nice intermediate step in their career. They feel they can become better at Feyenoord.
And the fact that we have sold players to clubs like Manchester United, Leeds United and Benfica also helps. If they perform well straight away, like Sinisterra, that again increases Feyenoord’s appeal.”
