Leeds United transfer rumours as claims Raphinha 'will go to war' for Barca move emerge

Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Wednesday, June 8.

Raphinha ‘willing to go to war’ for Barca move

The ongoing transfer saga regarding Raphinha doesn’t show any signs of being resolved in the next weeks, possibly even months. Barcelona continue to hope that Leeds will buckle in their valuation of the winger but that seems extremely unlikely.

However, according to Sport, such is Raphinha’s desire to pursue a move to Camp Nou, he is “going to go all out to leave Leeds and he is willing to go to war if necessary”. That certainly doesn’t seem to be the case based on his response on international duty when asked about his Whites future and it is worth remember the role of the Spanish press in other long-running transfer sagas in recent years.

He will know, though, that any force he applies on Leeds will only sour the brilliant relationship he has built with supporters who are not begrudging of a move on the basis that the asking price is met.

O’Brien not at the top of midfield target list

Another centre midfielder is certainly on the agenda at Elland Road this summer and rumours were circulating that Lewis O’Brien was once again one of the main targets. He was a player fancied by Marcelo Bielsa but they weren’t able to agree a deal with Huddersfield last summer.

A £10m release clause has been rumoured as a result of the Terriers’ play-off failure and Whites fans, across the board, seem as though they’d be happy with that signing. Although, The Athletic have claimed that the club are focusing on other targets with top-level experience and proven pedigree mentioned as key factors.

Chelsea opt against extending Leeds-linked defender’s deal

As well as a centre midfielder, a central defender is also said to be on Jesse Marsch’s radar this summer following the arrival of Brenden Aaronson and expected arrival of Rasmus Kristensen. A left-footed centre-back is said to be priority and Leeds have been linked with Jake Clarke-Salter.

Our sister site CoventryLive have reported that Chelsea will not exercise the option of another year for the 24-year-old, meaning he will be out of contract at the end of this month. After spending this season on loan with the Sky Blues, they are keen to make his stay at the Ricoh Arena a permanent one while Sheffield United, PSV and Club Brugge have also been linked.
