Leeds United transfer rumours as Arsenal 'eye up' Wilfried Gnonto move

Here are your latest Leeds United transfer rumours for Sunday, March 26.

Arsenal 'eye up' Wilfried Gnonto move

Arsenal are lining up a summer transfer for Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto, according to Italian outlet Gazzetto dello Sport (via the Mirror ).

It is thought that Mikel Arteta's side are one of a handful of Premier League clubs plotting a move for the Italian winger. The report states that Manchester City and Chelsea are also monitoring Gnonto's situation alongside the league leaders.

As with the majority of Leeds' transfer business this summer - both ins and outs - the completion of this deal could well hinge on whether or not the Whites retain their status in the top-flight for the 2023/24 campaign. The likes of Arsenal and Man City are now thought to be keeping a keen eye on Leeds' progress in the league for the rest of the season as they look to find a way to tempt Gnonto away from Elland Road.

With Leeds and Arsenal meeting next weekend, there now seems to be another sub-plot to the game starting to bubble away.

Leeds 'sent scouts' to Arsenal vs Sporting Lisbon

Elsewhere, the Whites are also entwined with the Gunners in another bit of transfer business after they sent scouts to the Emirates Stadium to watch their Europa League match with Sporting Lisbon.

That is according to Portuguese outlet O Jogo (via Sport Witness ), who claim that Leeds were keeping tabs on midfielder Manuel Ugarte. Sporting held Arsenal to a 1-1 draw and went on to knock the Premier League title contenders out at the last-16 stage during a penalty shoot-out.

Ugarte did not take a spot-kick himself as he was sent off in the 118th minute for a second bookable offence after a dangerous tackle on Bukayo Saka. The challenge was arguably a necessary one as it prevented Arsenal from capitalising on a potential chance and ultimately saw his team progress - the type of decision making that could show his ability to thrive in the Premier League.
