Leeds United transfer rumours as Serie A chief hands Whites January transfer boost

Here is your Leeds United transfer gossip and rumours on Monday, October 31.

Serie A chief hands Leeds United January transfer boost

Lazio club president Claudio Lotito has handed Leeds United a big boost in their January transfer window ventures according to Italian outlet Il Messaggero.

Despite Pascal Struijk's excellent job this season of filling in Junior Firpo, who has missed much of the season with a knee injury sustained in pre-season, it's an area the Whites would certainly like to fill when Premier League football returns after this year's World Cup.

One player Leeds have been linked over the summer with is Empoli's Fabiano Parisi who has thoroughly impressed in his short career so far after promotions from Serie C to Serie B and from Serie B up to Serie A.

It's also mentioned that European clubs, including Nottingham Forest, are after Cremonese's Emanuele Valeri - another highly-touted option at full-back that Leeds could go after.

Speaking to Il Messaggero, Lotito admitted his club would only buy a new left-back if they were to sell one of their own first, meaning that Lazio will more than likely not be in the way of Leeds this winter.

"The market in January? We will see what to do with [head coach Maurizio] Sarri. Parisi or Valeri. For left-back, someone has to leave [before a new one arrives]."

£16 million deal for Juventus star would 'be hard to do' for Leeds United

Transfer journalist Peter O'Rourke has said that getting a deal through for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie in January would 'be hard to do' for Leeds United.

McKennie has scored twice in Juve's Champions League campaign this season and has already equalled his tally of goals from their last campaign in just 16 games in all competitions.

The 24-year-old joined Juventus from Schalke 04 in 2020 and has been a key part of their side since as he quickly approaches his 100th game for the club.

Leeds are known for bringing in American talent, with manager Jesse Marsch hailing from Wisconsin while midfielder duo Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson both signed in the summer and have been standout players so far this season.

However, with top Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Tottenham looking at the American, O'Rourke believes it'll be difficult for Leeds to use their influence over talks.

"I think it'd be quite a hard deal to do. Wages and possibly the price tag as well might be out of Leeds' price range, and I'm sure there will be other clubs also interested in Weston McKennie if Juventus do decide to try and sell him in the January window."
