Victor Orta has been particularly busy so far this summer, as Leeds United's director of football has already made five first-team signings in order to overhaul the squad which suffered badly in their second season in the Premier League. The arrivals of Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra on Wednesday and Thursday meant that the Whites' planned business is almost complete.
The two latest incomings joined Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen and Marc Roca, whilst teenage midfielder Darko Gyabi also joined the club from Manchester City on the day Kalvin Phillips left the club for the Premier League champions. The 18-year-old is primarily expected to be playing in the under-21 side but he will be included in the elite group of youngsters who trains with the first-team and competes for minutes. Jesse Marsch has already proven his trust in young players, as Sam Greenwood was given his first Premier League start in the centre of midfield in the crucial final match of the season, when the Whites secured their safety for another season.
Orta still intends to sign a forward and is working hard to attract Club Brugge's Charles De Ketelaere, although he is competing with AC Milan for the player's signature. As well as that, an experienced goalkeeper is expected to be signed and Leeds are also preparing for life without Raphinha.

That second major outgoing will see Leeds without two of their most influential players of the last few seasons as they go into the 22/23 season. Whilst the club are happy with their work done in the transfer market thus far and hope that their final outfield signing will be an exciting one, this is a summer of real squad churn and Jesse Marsch will require all the new signings to adjust to the Premier League quickly, as well as meshing together as a team.
Former Leeds manager Simon Grayson expressed that view as he commented on the signing of Sinisterra on Thursday. The League One promotion winner wrote on Instagram:
"Been a good off-season with signings, well done. Let’s hope they all click and make it a less stressful season than last year."
Providing the signings do all make the adjustment, the aim for this summer appears to have been in providing far greater strength in depth to the Whites' squad. In 21/ 22, Leeds had very little depth to cover for injuries, which began to stack up from a very early point in the season. As such, they struggled throughout and only avoided relegation on the final day of the season. Whilst they may have lost some star quality in Phillips and Raphinha, the squad looks far more able to cope with the rigours of a Premier League season. Time will only tell whether that is the case.
