Leeds United transfer gossip as pundit urges Victor Orta to sign new Whites striker

Here are the Leeds United transfer rumours and gossip on Tuesday, November 8.

Pundit urges Victor Orta to sign new Leeds United striker

With Patrick Bamford unable to get over the injury hump he's seemingly found himself in, it might be time for Leeds manager Jesse Marsch and director of football Victor Orta to bring in a new face in the January transfer window.

That's the opinion of former Premier League midfielder Robbie Mustoe who says that the Whites are 'desperate' for new blood in front of goal, despite their youth players proving capable of taking down some of the league's top sides in recent weeks.

Youngsters like Wilfried Gnonto, Crysencio Summerville and Sam Greenwood have all proved their worth in the Whites' back-to-back league wins over Liverpool and Bournemouth - with Summerville providing late winners in both.

Speaking on The 2 Robbies Podcast, Mustoe urged the club to hand Marsch a goalscorer, saying Leeds are in desperate need of a new striker.

He said: "I think they are going to be okay to survive, I think that Jesse Marsch and Victor Orta, who’s the director of football, [in] January [get a] striker, come on. We need a striker. They are desperate. I mean, Rodrigo is not an out-and-out nine, [but] he’s done okay."

Leeds United linked with Ligue 1 centre-back

Leeds United might be in the market for RC Strasbourg centre-back Alexander Djiku ahead of the January transfer window according to journalist Ed Aarons.

Djiku has been a regular for Strasbourg for some years now and is in the hunt to be selected by Ghana for this year's World Cup later this month.

Talking to GiveMeSport, Aarons believes a move to the Premier League is on the cards for the 28-year-old, whose contract runs out at the end of the season.

"He’s been doing pretty well. He almost went to Hoffenheim in the summer, I think.

"There’s a problem that he might have with an injury, they’re just waiting to see what happened over the weekend, but he’s in the Ghana preliminary squad. Another really good player, a good solid defender who’s a good age as well at 28 now.

"I don’t think he’s ready for sort of the top-level in the Premier League yet, so somebody who is sort of down the lower end will probably be looking at him, maybe Leeds or somebody like that."
