Leeds United to make history with record under-23 attendance bigger than some Premier League clubs

History will be made at Leeds United on Friday night when more than 18,000 supporters are expected to watch the Premier League 2 fixture with Manchester City. The division’s attendance record previously stood at 17,525, but sales went beyond 18,000 on Thursday with tickets still being sold before kick-off.

The attendance is already set to be bigger than the average for Championship games this season as well as Brentford's top-flight average, but if sales continue at their current rate the gate could rival what Burnley and Watford have seen in the Premier League this term.

The club has called for purchases to be collected as early as possible to avoid long queues at Elland Road on Friday night. A club statement said: “Due to the high volume of sales over recent days, we are advising supporters who have pre-booked tickets to collect them as soon as possible to avoid queues on the evening of the game.

“The West Stand Ticket Office is open until 5pm on Thursday (April 21) and from 10.30am on Friday (April 22) for supporters to both purchase and collect tickets. Tickets are priced at £6 for adults and £3 concessions and can still be purchased at this link.

“Any fans purchasing tickets after 5pm on Friday, April 22 need to go to the West Stand Ticket counters in the main West Stand Car Park. The East Stand Lower, North Stand & West Stand are open for this fixture and turnstiles will open at 5.45pm.”
