Leeds United team news as Jesse Marsch hands out four debuts at Wolves

Jesse Marsch has made 10 changes to his Leeds United side for tonight’s Carabao Cup clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux. The Whites can claim a spot in the fourth round of the competition with a win this evening and they’ll be keen to secure their place in Thursday night’s draw.

The head coach has chosen to hand out four Whites debuts this evening, with senior bows coming for both Mateo Joseph and Darko Gyabi. The pair have hugely impressed for the U21s this season and they start for the Whites in the West Midlands.

Sonny Perkins also gets the nod, but he’s no stranger to first-team football having played for West Ham United on three occasions last season. He’ll play on the right of a front four, it seems, where he has been seen regularly for Michael Skubala’s side.

Joel Robles is the fourth debutant this evening with the veteran keeper getting his first run-out for the club since joining from Real Betis in the summer. Illan Meslier is rested after playing every minute of every game for the Whites so far this season.

Luke Ayling comes into the side and provides plenty of experience in what is a much-changed back line for the Whites. Diego Llorente picks up his first start since the loss to Leicester City last month, while Leo Hjelde makes his return to action after appendix surgery.

Mateusz Klich will be keen to send out a message by impressing in the middle of the park, while Joe Gelhardt goes in search of his first goal of the season from the secondary striker role.

Jack Harrison is the only player to keep their starting spot from Saturday’s win over Bournemouth at Elland Road. Marsch has packed the bench out with youngsters and U21s stars Amari Miller, James Debayo, Joe Snowdon, Kris Moore and Charlie Allen would all be making Leeds debuts should they feature.

Leeds line-up: Joel Robles; Luke Ayling, Diego Llorente, Leo Hjelde, Junior Firpo; Darko Gyabi, Mateusz Klich; Sonny Perkins, Joe Gelhardt, Jack Harrison; Mateo Joseph.

Bench: Kristoffer Klaesson, Amari Miller, James Debayo, Joe Snowdon, Kris Moore, Charlie Allen, Alfie McCalmont, Sam Greenwood, Wilfried Gnonto.
