Leeds United target Valentin Castellanos is reportedly set to join Manchester City.
New York City's Castellanos is one of a number of strikers to be linked with Leeds this summer. The Whites, Newcastle United and Everton have all reportedly kept tabs on the forward, but Manchester City are set to sign the 23-year-old.
However, it's unlikely that Castellanos will ever play a game for the Premier League champions. City are expected to sign the Argentinian so that he can be loaned out to City Football Group side Girona FC in La Liga, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Romano tweeted: 'Taty Castellanos is expected to join City Group side Girona very soon, final details to be discussed in the next days. MLS star prepared to leave NY in order to try new La Liga experience.'
Castellanos has impressed in the MLS over the last couple of seasons. In 2022, he has scored 12 goals in 15 appearances for New York City FC. The previous year, he scored 19 goals and claimed eight assists in 32 games. Castellanos has made it clear in the past that he wishes to play in a big league in Europe, and it looks as though he will soon be playing for the newly-promoted La Liga side.
