Leeds United target James McAtee may leave Premier League champions if Whites make one promise

Leeds United target James McAtee could leave Manchester City on loan this summer, according to reports. The Daily Mail have reported that the Premier League champions will only allow McAtee to leave on loan if they get assurances that he will play regularly.

Leeds aren't alone in their interest of McAtee, with newly-promoted clubs AFC Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest reportedly monitoring the 19-year-old's situation. Villarreal are also interested in the player.

Brighton saw a bid to sign McAtee permanently rejected last summer and a number of Premier League sides were also interested in him before he signed a new City contract earlier this year. The attacking midfielder broke into City's first-team last season, making six appearances in all competitions. He was an unused substitute in Leeds' 4-0 defeat to Pep Guardiola's side in April.

He made two Premier League appearances last term, featuring in wins over Everton and Norwich, while he also has Champions League experience having come on as a second-half substitute in City's 0-0 draw at Sporting Lisbon in the round of 16 in March.

Leeds United have made six signings so far this summer. Rasmus Kristensen, Brenden Aaronson, Marc Roca, Darko Gyabi, Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra have joined the club, and the Whites are expected to add a left-back and a forward before the transfer window shuts.
