Leeds United supporters react to 'tough' defeat at Brighton as unbeaten start comes to an end

Leeds United’s unbeaten start to the season was ended on the south coast as Brighton and Hove Albion ran out 1-0 winners at the AMEX Stadium.

The Whites endured a quiet first half and were deservedly behind after an hour when Pascal Groß found the bottom corner for the hosts, giving them the lead.

However, the visitors could’ve nicked a point to take back to Yorkshire late on as Diego Llorente somehow put Adam Forshaw’s excellent ball into the area wide of the goal late on.

The Seagulls seem to be a bogey side for the Whites regardless of which manager is in charge or what division they meet in, with it now just one win in the two sides’ last 12 meetings for Leeds, losing nine of those.

Having beaten Chelsea 3-0 at Elland Road last weekend, Jesse Marsch named an unchanged starting lineup, keeping summer signing Luis Sinisterra on the bench, despite the Colombian scoring his first goal for the Whites against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.

Despite an impressive first three games of the season, Marsch’s side weren’t at it for the most part against Brighton, with supporters taking to Twitter to share their frustrations.

@Ell_LUFC tweeted: “Brighton were always going to be tough. We can never play well against them, I'm unsure why. But we move on.”

@caggiebrody tweeted: “We just didnt seem to turn up to day. No shame going there and getting beat thoigh. Theyre a team on the up and building something really good there. Hard to tale watching them play like that after last week though. But we move on. Everton next. MOT”

@markydh tweeted: “We’ve huffed and puffed in the second half and probably should have scored, but we can complain if we get nothing because Brighton should have been miles ahead at half time in any case”

@yorkshireboy14 tweeted: “Leeds been 2nd best today everywhere on the pitch .We still need some players .poor game over all .we didn't lose because of the ref but he added to a poor game ..Brighton away is never good”

@samsamsamsam92 tweeted: “1-0 to Brighton was the correct result. We played well in patches, Brighton the better side overall”

@MrGallagher15 tweeted: “Tough game that. Brighton are decent with the ball. The persistence to keep Rodrigo on despite him playing poorly was frustrating. More fuel for the ‘striker transfer’ fire.

“Positives: thought Sinnistera looked really lively and seemed to be playing through the middle.”

@Aldoyle6Doyle tweeted: “Poor performance all round llorente and rodrigo were particularly bad, a new Left back & centre forward a must this week even if bamford is fit , still a decent start tho”

@ZomoniacLUFC tweeted: “Scoreline flattered us tbh.”
