Leeds United supporters outraged after 'ludicrous' Nottingham Forest request amid injury crisis

Leeds United supporters have questioned Nottingham Forest's decision to ask the Premier League for permission to re-add Steve Cook to their squad list after lengthy injuries to two other centre-backs.

Scott McKenna and Willy Boly are both set to be out on the sideline for long periods with hamstring injuries, with McKenna only likely to come back after the next six weeks while Boly could miss the rest of the season.

That means Steve Cooper's side only have Joe Worrall and Felipe available at centre-back for the foreseeable future after Cook was omitted following his rejection of a Championship loan move in the January transfer window.

Given the close nature of the relegation race, and the implications the appeal could have on both Leeds and Forest's places in the league table at the end of the season, Leeds fans were naturally outraged when they read the reports earlier this week.

Leeds4fiftyyears: "Ludicrous straw grasping and really unfair."

Telly H: "They have an academy, right? Call up a young'un like we do all the time - and they bought 29 players too."

Spacca12: "Why? You put 25 players' names forward to the football league at the start of the season. Do what other teams have to do and rotate players. It’s different when it’s a goal keeper and not enough on the books you can bring one in."

G1970: "So out of 25 players they only pencilled in 4 who can play at CB? That's their error, tough."

justiceofthetruth: "Stuff Forest's request, we have been without a valid left back in our squad for 6 seasons and haven't applied for adding another player."

Rhinocol: "In Bielsa's days we had 3 centre halves out with Llorente, Cooper and Koch all missing big portions of the season (that's part of the reason we struggled) so Forest should be made to play with what they've got!"
