Leeds United fans have labelled their side's Under-21s squad's win as 'cruel' after they routed Southampton Under-21s 6-2 at Elland Road tonight, in a homage to the famous piece of Barry Davies commentary from the senior Whites side's legendary 7-0 1972 shellacking of the Saints.
A Patrick Bamford hat-trick was flanked by goals from Crysencio Summerville, first-team captain Liam Cooper and Premier League 2 Player of the Month Sonny Perkins as the Whites dominated the Saints.
Consolation goals from Dom Ballard and Sam Bellis meant nothing however, as the thrashing solidified Leeds' control at the top of the Premier League 2 Division 2 table, as they've now taken 13 points from a possible 15 to start their season.
