Leeds United supporters have been left surprised by the decision to extend Diego Llorente's deal at Elland Road. The Spanish defender has penned a three-and-a-half-year extension, running until the summer of 2026.
The defender, 29, joined the Whites back in September 2020, following the club’s promotion to the Premier League and has made 55 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals. Llorente has featured nine times in all competitions under head coach Jesse Marsch.
The announcement is the second contract extension the club have announced this week, with versatile defender Pascal Struijk also committing his long-term future to the club. Supporters were fully behind that deal, but it's fair to say there's been a different reaction this time round.
