Leeds United are struggling to attract supporters from the United States despite their obvious American connections. Data compiled by Morning Consult - a US-based global research company specialising in online survey technology - listed the Whites as the 12th-best supported club in the Premier League across the pond.
Unsurprisingly, US-owned Liverpool and Manchester United lead the way, but Leeds’ lack of pull is a cause for concern. For context, Crystal Palace, Southampton and West Ham and Newcastle United ranked higher on the list.
Unlike those clubs, Leeds have had an invested interest - both on and off the field - in the US. NFL behemoth San Francisco 49ers own a 44% stake in the club and are backed to secure a full acquisition by 2024.
Likewise, Jesse Marsch took charge of Leeds in February and is the most talented American coach at present. His appointment has seen several high-profile Yanks join this summer, such as Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams.

Despite this, any attempts to appeal Stateside have proven futile so far. Morning Consult - valued at £1billion - were named by Deloitte as one of the fastest-growing technology companies in North America, so their findings have pedigree.
Perhaps scars from a 16-year exile from the top flight are still on show when enticing a global audience is concerned. In the coming years, should Leeds remain a Premier League force, more supporters will feel aligned with the club under US ownership.
