Leeds United stars' end-of-season messages share common trait as squad reflects on survival

Everyone involved with Leeds United breathed a huge sigh of relief when Jack Harrison’s stoppage-time strike against Brentford hit the back of the net. Premier League safety was secure and it brought a fittingly hectic end to a truly forgettable season.

As far as the majority of the players and staff at the club are concerned, it is now a period of rest and recuperation before the slightly earlier start to next season. It will then be a case of Jesse Marsch continuing the progress he has already been able to achieve in the first few months of his reign as manager.

With a clean slate, a full pre-season and some recruitment, there should be plenty of optimism heading into the new campaign. But, firstly, as mentioned, it is time for the players to put their feet up for a few weeks on the back of a mentally and physically demanding season.

As they signed off for the summer, a few of the players took to social media to deliver their end-of-season messages to the supporters, with the common theme being just how much the fans' dedication and commitment has helped the cause and got them over the line.

Here is a look at some of these messages...

And here is what some of the others had to say on Instagram.

Luke Ayling : "The most mentally and physically demanding season so far!!

"The football at times hasn’t been great but one thing we will never let you down with is our attitude and commitment to this great club!! We gave it everything every game and we finally got what we needed to stay in this league!!

"To the fans who stuck with us all year to the last minute of every game you were heard and your energy dragged us through some tough times.

"Now it’s times to rest and get back to full fitness. The op went good and I’m hoping for a speedy recovery. MOT."

Raphinha : "What an amazing season. It was difficult, it was very difficult, but we fought until the end and we achieved our goal of keeping this great club in the premier league… I am proud of each one of you."

Dan James : "Been a season of up and downs but you stuck by us until the end! We will come back stronger next season. MOT."

Tyler Roberts : "Staying where we belong. Thank you for your incredible support throughout this season. Love you all. See you soon."
