Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto set a season record in the Premier League with his assist for Crysencio Summerville against Bournemouth on Saturday. The 19-year-old's run before providing the pass for Summerville's winner was the longest carry (58 metres) leading to a goal in the Premier League this season.
Gnonto was making his first appearance at Elland Road at the weekend after coming off the bench for Jack Harrison at half time. His performance showed some huge signs of promise and his assist for the winning goal was a sign of both his quality and maturity as a player despite his age.
Gnonto received the ball from just outside his own penalty area thanks to a well cushioned header by captain Liam Cooper. In what was a frantic game, rather than clearing the ball just aimlessly up the pitch, Gnonto decided to drive beyond two Bournemouth challenges and into the attacking half.

Around halfway, Marcos Senesi attempted to bring Gnonto down with a tactical foul, but his strength, pace and balance meant he was able to ride the challenge and drive into space on the left. Noticing the gap in the centre that Gnonto's run had opened up, Summerville then made a dart inside.
The Italian international then released the pass at the perfect time, with the perfect weight straight into Summerville's path to smash home a winning goal. It is only early days, but both of Gnonto's two cameos in a Leeds shirt have shown huge signs of promise and hopefully there is more to come.
