Leeds United's Wilfried Gnonto among world's brightest prospects according to key statistic

Leeds United are facing an uphill battle to keep hold of their brightest talents this summer after relegation from the Premier League. The vultures are circling Elland Road for the likes of Tyler Adams, Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto.

It's the latter of the trio who surprised the Whites' faithful last season after arriving from FC Zurich. The young Italian was supposed to be a long-term signing, but was fast-tracked into Jesse Marsch's starting XI given their struggles on the pitch.

Gnonto burst on to the scene and proved to be one of Victor Orta's final success stories before things turned sour. The 19-year-old scored six times and set-up another five in 45 games in all competitions for club and country.

His rise to prominence has seen a number of Europe's top clubs sit up and take note. Juventus, Inter Milan and a number of Premier League sides are said to be keen on his services.

Despite not starting the season as a first-teamer, Gnonto was one of the first names on the team sheet come the start of January and his creativity, pace and explosiveness are a threat for any side. So, it should come as no surprise to see the Italian rank fifth in the world's top ten most promising right-wingers that are shot orientated, according to CIES.

The study looks at players who have accumulated the highest experience capital -a metric particularly useful to identify promising football players since it combines playing time, the competitive level of matches played and results - in official matches played in adult competitions in 2022. Gnonto is listed among some of the world's best upcoming talents.

Villareal winger Yeremi Pino is second in the charts, with Borussia Dortmind's Karim Adeyemi in third. The duo have been linked with big money moves to Europe's elite, emphasising both the talent and potential Leeds have on their hands with Gnonto.
