Leeds United's summer transfer targets and how they've fared so far this season

Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch has made some of the best value signings of the Premier League season so far after managing to bring in the likes of Brenden Aaronson, Marc Roca and Tyler Adams.

The signings Marsch has made are thoroughly impressing fans and pundits alike but despite those players doing well, there were some targets that Leeds didn't manage to get.

Here is how those that were linked to Leeds have fared so far this season...

Cody Gakpo

Leeds fans are going to wish they could've landed Cody Gakpo when they were linked to the 21-year-old earlier in the summer after the start he's had this season.

In just seven Eredivisie games, Gakpo has racked up seven goals and six assists including a goal and a hattrick of assists in PSV Eindhoven's 4-3 win over Feyenoord - one of the most impressive performances across Europe so far this season.

Across all competitions, Gakpo has 10 goals and nine assists in 13 games for PSV and a further two in the UEFA Nations League for his country, the Netherlands.

Bamba Dieng

Bamba Dieng's move to Leeds United on transfer deadline day, despite owner Andrea Radrizzani saying publicly he was set for the Whites, failed in the final hours and now he's finally been let back into the Olympique Marseille squad by manager Igor Tudor.

The Senegalese forward had agreed a move to Elland Road for £9m but decided to change his mind when a last-minute offer from OGC Nice came in.

However, after failing his medical with the French club, he was forced to stay at Marseille and is yet to play for them this season after the situation.

According to FootMercato, Tudor said: “If I have to use a word to describe it, it was a complicated summer for him, but he’s someone who’s really formidable, very kind. He’s training and is now a part of the group.”

Divock Origi

The first AC Milan player on this list, Divock Origi moved to Italy after making a name for himself under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool while acting as a super substitute, with goals in such big matches as the Champions League final.

However, his life at AC Milan hasn't been great so far - he's only played 48 minutes of Serie A action due to injury across three games and featured in their 3-1 Champions League win against Dinamo Zagreb.

Charles De Ketelaere

The AC Milan midfielder has had a good start to the season, playing in all seven of their Serie A matches and both of Milan's Champions League games.

His performances, which include a game where he set up Rafael Leao's opener against Bologna in a 2-0 win, have earned himself another call-up to the Belgium squad for their two UEFA Nations League matches against Wales and the Netherlands during this international break.
